Suzanne Urpecz, Co-Founder and Lead Culinary Ambassador
Suzanne started Savour Toronto to provide enriching food experiences in Toronto. Her background is in broadcast journalism and she’s worked for organizations such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Thomson Reuters. She’s been connected with food throughout her lifetime including learning to cook at an early age and travelling to different countries to taste their unique offerings. She possess a certificate in Culinary Arts from George Brown College and is actively involved in Toronto’s food and dining scene. She thoroughly enjoys curating top-notch tours and events as well as having the opportunity to work with professionals in the food and tourism industry. In May of 2016, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It’s given her a profound appreciation to live life to the fullest each day. Suzanne is passionate about giving back and supporting community involvement for various social causes.
Cindy Chan, Tour Guide and Culinary Ambassador
Cindy grew up in Scarborough and has always been passionate about food. After Cindy left her career in broadcasting she traveled extensively, discovering new cultures and expanding her knowledge on food. Cindy has been with Savour Toronto for 2 years and has hosted countless public and private tours. Cindy is a lead for all Savour Toronto tours including our new Old ChinaTown tour. On her free time, she loves adding to her cookbook collection, taking food photos and putting up jars of strawberry jam. Clair Parker, Tour Guide and Culinary Ambassador
Clair grew up in Cambridge, ON until she moved to Ottawa for school. Inspired by the vibrant Ottawa food community she soon realized she was spending more time working in restaurants than she was in class, so she decided to pursue a career that focused on her true passion, local food and agriculture. Since then Clair has moved to Toronto and earned a post graduate certificate in public relations from Humber which has allowed her to work with some great food focused organizations. Between leading our Kensington Krawl tours, Clair can be found working at Halo Brewery or volunteering at The Stop Community Food Centre. In her spare time you can find Clair sipping tiki drinks or on her tireless search for the perfect sandwich; if you have any tips, please let her know!
Samantha Larocque, Tour Guide and Culinary Ambassador
Sam is currently pursuing a master’s in education at U of T. Prior to Toronto, she lived in Montreal and Vancouver where she discovered the joys of tourtière, ramen, and maple syrup everything. Sam’s love of food was developed at an early age when she was co-opted into working as her mother’s sous-chef in her bed-and-breakfast in Thailand. She quickly realized that the intensity of the professional kitchen wasn’t for her, even if the food was. When she’s not working or studying, Sam spends her time cooking for friends, discovering new restaurants, and exploring neighborhoods in Toronto.
Neil Egan, Co-Founder and Logistics Manager
Neil has equal passion for food and technology. When he’s not spending his time on computer systems and gadgets, he’s scoping out the latest food trends and tasting notes for the company. As a founding partner of Savour Toronto, Neil’s strength is managing the operations and digital aspects. Neil is also the manager of Information Technology at Kids Help Phone, a nationwide professional counselling service for youth across Canada. Years of working in the non-profit sector has given Neil perspective on the importance of community and is a strong advocate of supporting social initiatives.
Hyedie Hashimoto from Happy D Designs, Graphic Designer
Hyedie is a freelance graphic designer with over 10 years of design experience focusing on working with non-profits and start-up ventures. She is the organizer of the Cupcake Bike Ride in Toronto, a social biking group that starts and ends with the consumption of sweet treats. She was honoured when approached by Savour Toronto to create their logo and has continued to assist with their design elements. (Photo by Molly Crealock)
