Suzanne Urpecz, Co-Founder and Lead Culinary Ambassador
Suzanne started Savour Toronto to provide enriching food experiences in Toronto. Her background is in broadcast journalism and she’s worked for organizations such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Thomson Reuters. She’s been connected with food throughout her lifetime including learning to cook at an early age and travelling to different countries to taste their unique offerings. She possess a certificate in Culinary Arts from George Brown College and is actively involved in Toronto’s food and dining scene. She thoroughly enjoys curating top-notch tours and events as well as having the opportunity to work with professionals in the food and tourism industry. In 2016, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It’s given her a profound appreciation to live life to the fullest each day. Suzanne is passionate about giving back and supporting community involvement for a range of social causes.
Cindy Chan, Event Manager and Lead Culinary Ambassador
Cindy grew up in Scarborough and has always been passionate about food. After Cindy left her career in broadcasting she traveled extensively, discovering new cultures and expanding her knowledge on food. Cindy has been with Savour Toronto for 3 years and has hosted countless public and private tours. Cindy is a lead for all Savour Toronto tours including the new Taste of Chinatown tour. On her free time, she loves adding to her cookbook collection, taking food photos and putting up jars of strawberry jam. Nastasha Alli, Tour Guide and Culinary Ambassador
Nastasha’s path to writing about food started with a sour soup called “sinigang” – her favourite home cooked dish growing up in the Philippines. Since moving to Canada at 19, she’s worked as a concierge, freelanced for various food magazines, and started her own blog and podcast about food. She’s particularly drawn to the study of foodways, to understand how local communities, traditions and history shape a region’s food culture. At home, she cooks up a storm of Filipino recipes, tweaking prep methods, ingredients and cooking techniques for Canadian kitchens. Nastasha loves living in Toronto, a city where fantastic food and drink experiences are never far away. It’s where her home and heart is!
Camilo Montoya-Guevara, Tour Guide and Culinary Ambassador
A newcomer to many places, Camilo grew up in Toronto and hails from Colombia. As a young immigrant to Toronto, culinary exploration quickly became Camilo’s preferred form of local travel. While expanding his borders, he embarked on a palette changing food tour of Istanbul. Since then, Camilo has lived and eaten his way through Italy, Scotland, South Korea, Hungary, and Germany. He returned to Toronto in 2017 after completing a Master’s in Cultural Heritage Policy and Management at Central European University in Budapest. Camilo is passionate about Toronto’s rich cultural diversity, the source of the city’s culinary richness.
Neil Egan, Co-Founder and Logistics Manager
Neil has equal passion for food and technology. When he’s not spending his time on computer systems and gadgets, he’s scoping out the latest food trends and tasting notes for the company. As a founding partner of Savour Toronto, Neil’s strength is managing the operations and digital aspects. Neil is also the senior manager of technologies at Kids Help Phone, a nationwide professional counselling service for youth across Canada. Years of working in the non-profit sector has given Neil perspective on the importance of community and is a strong advocate of supporting social initiatives.
Hyedie Hashimoto from Happy D Designs, Graphic Designer
Hyedie is a freelance graphic designer with over 10 years of design experience focusing on working with non-profits and start-up ventures. She is the organizer of the Cupcake Bike Ride in Toronto, a social biking group that starts and ends with the consumption of sweet treats. She was honoured when approached by Savour Toronto to create their logo and has continued to assist with their design elements. (Photo by Molly Crealock)
